How we work
A structured school week, delivered live online, with the warmth of a small community.
1. Join a class
Each child is placed in a small class for their year group with a qualified subject teacher.
2. Learn live
Lessons run live on video with screen sharing, whiteboards and plenty of chances to ask questions.
3. Practise & get feedback
Homework is set after each lesson and marked with written feedback from the teacher.
4. Track progress
Parents follow attendance, progress and the weekly plan from the family dashboard.
How we deliver lessons
Live, interactive classes
Real-time teaching — not pre-recorded videos — so children can talk, answer and work together.
Recorded for revision
Missed a lesson or want to revisit it? Recordings and resources stay available to your child.
Small groups
Classes are kept small so every child is seen, heard and supported.
Your goals. Your pace. Our support.
Growing Roots is a calm, unhurried hour at the table: a teacher who stays with the child in front of them, and a plan built around your family.
A lesson, up close
A short sample from one of our science lessons — the same clear teaching, visual explanation and room to ask questions your child gets each week.
- • Explained by a teacher, step by step
- • Visual and child-friendly
- • Every live lesson is recorded for revision
Our exam boards
Our GCSE courses follow the specifications of the three main UK exam boards, chosen subject by subject:
- AQA
- Pearson Edexcel
- OCR
Sitting exams privately
Home-educated students take GCSEs as private candidates at an approved exam centre. We help you every step of the way:
- • Finding a local exam centre that accepts private candidates
- • Choosing the right board and tier, and meeting entry deadlines
- • Arranging coursework, practical endorsements and speaking assessments
- • Requests for access arrangements, such as extra time
- • Mock exams and revision planning before the real thing
Exam entry fees are paid directly to the exam centre.
